Jaipur District Election Officer Orders Free, Fair Conduct of Urban Body Polls
Officials told to identify sensitive and critical polling booths for tighter security ahead of two-phase civic elections
JAIPUR. Jaipur District Election Officer (Municipal) Sandesh Nayak on Saturday directed election and police officials to conduct the 2026 urban local body elections with complete impartiality, fearlessness and independence, in line with instructions from the Rajasthan State Election Commission.
The directive came at a coordination meeting held at the Collectorate auditorium, attended by returning officers from all wards and their counterpart police officers, according to a release issued by the Rajasthan Department of Information and Public Relations (DIPR).
690 Wards Across 19 Civic Bodies
Nayak said conducting free and fair elections across Jaipur district's 19 urban local bodies — comprising one municipal corporation and two municipal councils, with a combined 690 wards — was a "moral duty" shared by all officials involved.
Public notice for the elections will be issued on August 27, he said. The last date for candidates to file nomination papers with their respective returning officers is August 31.
