Students Farmers Rally – Walkathon Edition 2 to Raise Awareness on Food Security and Sustainable Agriculture

Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India], March 13: The Students Farmers Rally – Walkathon Edition 2 will be organised by the Food Chain Campaign, a dedicated movement aimed at transforming India’s agricultural landscape. The initiative is led by Founder Yathish Thukaram and powered by the Gaushubham Foundation, founded by Narendra. The rally is scheduled to take place on 15 June 2026, starting from 10:00 A.M., with participants walking from Freedom Park to Vidhana Soudha in Bangalore under the theme “Nature • Youth • Economy.”

The campaign envisions building a sustainable and food-secure India where farmers thrive, youth actively engage in agriculture, and nature is preserved for future generations. Through this event, the organisers aim to raise awareness about food security and sustainable agriculture, encourage youth to pursue careers in agriculture and agribusiness, empower farmers, support rural economic growth, and advocate for agriculture’s inclusion in school and college curriculums. The rally also seeks to build strong connections between farmers, students, institutions, and industries.

The event is organised to highlight the critical risk to India’s food security while championing farmer empowerment, generating youth employment opportunities, and promoting agricultural education nationwide. Supporting partners for the initiative include KVK ICAR D.K, Institute of Agriculture Technologists (IAT), Indian Institute of Horticultural Research (IIHR), Bharat Agri Development Group, SKM Group of Institutions, Sairam Seafoods, Agrowise, NandiVastu, Apatam Foods, Vishwamitra Public Relations, DRK Agro Products, and Suki Homemade Products.

IDRC's 4th Arbitration in India Conclave 2025, Law Min. Meghwal, HMJ Manmohan, Sh. OP Dhankar & Ors

New Delhi [India], November 7: The Indian Dispute Resolution Centre (IDRC), in collaboration with the Bar Council of India's India International University of Legal Education and Research (IIULER), successfully hosted the “4th Arbitration in India Conclave 2025” at the India International Centre, New Delhi. Supported by CIArb and Vienna International Arbitration Centre, Austria. The Conclave brought together judges, legal luminaries, policymakers, and senior practitioners to deliberate on the theme “Autonomy and Accountability in Arbitration: Institutional Arbitration is the Way Forward.”

Hon’ble Union Minister for Law and Justice, Shri Arjun Ram Meghwal, delivered the keynote address, outlining the Government’s reform-oriented vision for ADR. Stating that “Arbitration, Mediation, and Conciliation are essential tools for strengthening India’s justice delivery and economic growth.” Citing the Mediation Act, 2023 and the forthcoming amendments to the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, he said these initiatives would “make India a preferred seat for both domestic and international arbitration.”

Shri Meghwal remarked that ADR mechanisms reflect India’s cultural and legal heritage, noting that “from Lord Krishna’s mediation in the Mahabharata to today’s institutional mechanisms, India has always valued resolution through dialogue and alternative modes.” He called upon arbitration institutions to ensure accessibility, affordability, and integrity, noting that “judicial intervention should be limited, and efficiency must define India’s dispute resolution landscape.”

Hon’ble Justice Manmohan, Supreme Court, in his valedictory address, called for institutional arbitration to evolve as a transparent and predictable system.
Praising IDRC’s achievements, noting that the Centre had conducted over 3,000 arbitrations in five years and has become a “symbol of India’s commitment to establish an efficient and credible ADR ecosystem.”

Justice Manmohan observed that “Courts must act as facilitators, not barriers, to arbitration. Excessive judicial interference erodes the very purpose of alternative dispute resolution.”
Highlighting the benefits of Institutional Arbitrations over ad hoc proceedings, he went on to suggest that a moratorium should be placed on all ad hoc arbitrations for a certain period so that institutional arbitration can be strengthened. Referring to the Justice BN Shrikrishna Committee Report, he said India should promote arbitration institutions to become a global ADR hub.

He proposed strict timelines for enforcing awards under Sections 34 and 37 of the Arbitration Act to ensure time-bound disposal of arbitration challenges. The Hon’ble Judge also urged the Government to revisit the Finance Ministry’s circular restricting arbitration only to disputes valued less than Rs. 10 Crore, stating that “the Government must remain a part of the arbitration movement, not apart from it.”

Panellists unanimously agreed that institutional arbitration ensures quality, neutrality, and procedural discipline, unlike ad hoc arbitrations that often face delays and cost overruns.

Ms Anuradha Dutt emphasised that “India can only become a true arbitration hub if it combines institutional discipline with a predictable judiciary.”

Mr S.D. Sanjay highlighted that “institutional systems help prevent arbitral fee abuse, avoid delays and promote fairness.”

Ms Shruti Sabharwal noted that “structured oversight, award scrutiny, and ethical accountability make institutional arbitration inherently superior to ad hoc ones”

Mr Ayush Agarwala added that “efficiency, diversity among arbitrators, and digital adoption will determine the future success of arbitration in India.”

Delivering the Welcome Address, Ved Prakash Sharma, Advocate and Co-Chairman, BCI applauded the growing role of arbitration in modern dispute resolution. He highlighted the collaboration between BCI and IDRC, stating that their joint efforts have been “instrumental in promoting awareness, education, and reforms that strengthen India’s arbitration ecosystem.”

Ms Sumedha Sindhu Rathi, Head of Operations and Member Secretary, Advisory Board, IDRC, welcomed the dignitaries and participants, outlining IDRC’s key functions and the benefits of Institutional Arbitration. Mr Divyansh H. Rathi, Hony. Kashmir CM and UIBC-UC Meet to Advance Indo-UAE Cooperation in Education and Healthcare

Srinagar (Jammu & Kashmir) [India] : Mr. Faizal E. Kottikollon, Dubai-based entrepreneur, philanthropist, and Chairman of the UAE India Business Council - UAE Chapter (UIBC-UC), along with Kshitij Korde, Head of Corporate Affairs, UIBC-UC, called on the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Jammu & Kashmir, Shri Omar Abdullah, in a landmark meeting that brought together leadership and vision.

This meeting was held on the sidelines of two key events in Srinagar - the inauguration of the transformed Middle School Block at Government Girls Higher Secondary School (GGHSS) Kothibagh, and the launch of a UIBC-UC research paper, “Bridging Horizons: UAE-India Partnership and the Future of Education-led Development.”

These events collectively underscore the growing momentum of Indo-UAE collaboration in social development, particularly in education and healthcare. The Chief Minister lauded the DREAM School initiative of the Faizal & Shabana Foundation (FSF), describing it as “a shining example of what visionary philanthropy and government partnership can achieve.”

The Kothibagh DREAM School, initiated following Mr. Kottikollon’s 2023 visit to Srinagar as part of a UIBC-UC delegation, stands as a testament to his steadfast commitment since that landmark year, a commitment that has continued to shape and strengthen Indo-UAE socio-developmental cooperation.

Chief Minister Omar Abdullah recently said, “No amount of infrastructure development, be it roads, power projects, or commercial complexes, can substitute for quality healthcare and education. These are the true pillars of J&K’s progress and prosperity.”

Mr Kottikollon also presented the Chief Minister with a copy of the research paper launched earlier and a copy of “Opening Gateways – Tourism Opportunities India-UAE,” a visually stunning coffee table book celebrating the growing tourism ties between India and the UAE. Jammu and Kashmir is highlighted in the book as a tourism magnet for the country, with the untapped potential of human capital development in J&K mentioned in the paper.

Mr. Kottikollon, whose foundation has transformed over 900 schools across India under its PRISM framework, expressed gratitude for the Chief Minister’s support and reaffirmed his long-term commitment to J&K’s development.

“It was an honour to call on the Hon’ble Chief Minister and seek his guidance on strengthening the Indo-UAE corridor,” said Mr. Kottikollon. “Education and healthcare are not just priorities but bridges that connect communities and create lasting impact.”

The meeting also explored new avenues of collaboration, including the proposed 40 K–12 school transformation program across J&K and a potential partnership to upgrade existing government healthcare institutions, aligning with the region’s focus on patient safety and holistic wellness.

Mr. Kottikollon also invited the Chief Minister to lead a J&K delegation to the UAE to further

dialogue on cross-border investment and knowledge exchange, whilst also extending a special invitation to visit Tulah Wellness Sanctuary, his integrative wellness venture in Kerala.

The school opening in Srinagar, where Lt. Governor Shri Manoj Sinha was chief guest, was attended by members of the UIBC-UC delegation and marks a significant milestone in Indo-UAE cooperation, showcasing how public-private partnerships can transform the educational and social landscape of Jammu & Kashmir.

Ummah Global Care Trust Organizes Legal Awareness and Women Empowerment Program at Impact College, Rampur

Rampur (Uttar Pradesh) [India], October 16: In a significant initiative aimed at spreading awareness about women’s rights and legal literacy, Ummah Global Care Trust organised a Legal Awareness and Women Empowerment Program at Impact College, Rampur (U.P.). The event was held under the able leadership of Chairman Tavish Hasan, Secretary Owais Hasan, and Treasurer Alamgir, who have been consistently working towards building a socially responsible and aware community.

The program attracted a large audience of over 300 participants, including women, young girls, and youth from diverse backgrounds. The key focus of the session was to educate attendees about laws related to women’s protection, the dowry system, and fundamental constitutional values that every citizen must be aware of.

The event was presided over by Dr Sultan Ahmad, Chairman of Impact College, and Mr. Sartaj Ahmad, Managing Director of the institution, both of whom extended their full support to the initiative. In their addresses, they emphasized the crucial role of education in promoting social awareness and the empowerment of women in society. They stressed that awareness of the law is the first step toward self-empowerment, as it equips individuals to stand up for their rights and challenge injustice in lawful ways.

The program also included interactive sessions, where participants raised questions about real-life issues faced by women in domestic and workplace environments. The advocates responded to these queries with practical legal advice and explained how existing legal frameworks can be used to ensure justice. The initiative helped in dispelling common myths around the law and encouraged young participants to act as agents of change in their communities.

At the conclusion of the event, certificates of Legal Awareness and Women Empowerment were distributed by Ummah Global Care Trust to all participants in recognition of their active engagement and interest in the subject. The organisers expressed gratitude to Impact College for providing the venue and to all the advocates for their valuable contributions.

Speaking on the occasion, Chairman Tavish Hasan reiterated the trust’s mission to promote legal and social education among underprivileged sections of society.
